Christians: True or false? My past determines who I am and I cannot change?

If you believe this, how is your life affected?Christians: True or false? My past determines who I am and I cannot change?
False;


My past may leave scars and battle wounds and thing for me to work out emotionally, but i am who i am today because Jesus has saved me from my past. If this was a true statement, then Paul would have not said that he counts all as loss for the ';excellence of the knowledge of Christ'; and that every day he forgets his past and presses on for Jesus. If we were not saved from our past sins then we would not be changed. a new heart is given to all those who call on the name of the Lord, therefore he is to go forth and sin no more, only God makes that possible because we all sin and daily we are renewed by the blood of the Lamb.Christians: True or false? I'd say true and false.





It's true because your past does usually determine who you are - for better or for worse. I, for one, have had a very ugly past but instead of letting it mold me into a bitter creature doing the same wrong things repeatedly I looked to God and I looked deep into all I had done wrong and discovered the lessons out of it and it has made me who I am today and I'm very happy with who I am today and who I am constantly becoming.





As far as changing - that's false. Even if your past has made you into something that's not good you can always look to God and Christ and they can heal everything within you and make it clean again. You can always be changed.



If you believe the Scriptures, repent of your past sins, are baptised (that is immersed), then your past sins are blotted out.





1 Corinthians 6


9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

In many instances this could be said to be True. We are a Product, the Sum, and Total of what has happened to us since Birth. There are many learned behaviors that we developed from our Parents, Teachers, Siblings, and Play Mates. These make us what we are Today, and the older we are, the deeper the imprint. Some never manage to change all the imprinting. Still, I do believe that we can, and do Change somewhat. It would be False to say categorically that we can not Change at all.

False. you can change by looking at your past and use them as a motivation to improve your life. without mistakes, we cannot improve. that's why they say practice makes perfect. we practice and make errors...but keep practicing in order to correct those errors.
jesus ask you to ask him to for give you for sins what i get from that is if he can do that and totally for get what you did you should for give your self but siome time that is harder to do.you can change your future he di not make a robot.you are what you choose to do .some of us have alot more to over come then others
FALSE= granted your past can affect how you view your life, however, if we are truly born again believers in Christ, He can change us into who He desires us to be. We can be transformed through Jesus.
If that were true grace, mercy, %26amp; forgiveness would be meaningless. God's Holy Spirit enables me to change to become more %26amp; more like Christ. That is sanctification.
False. God gave each of us free will, so although our past choices and experiences have a role in shaping us, we can always make different choices to affect who we are in the future.
False, we always have the choice to change. I can't say my life is affected in any way other than the choices I make, moment to moment.
As a Buddhist I say this is totally false. The power is yours to make what you will of your life and make your own destiny. You are in charge of your life - totally.
