True or false?
LDS believe that Heavenly Father has a wife, and/or wives, in heaven with whom he has conceived EVERY HUMAN SPIRIT before being sent to earth to take up residence in a physical body?LDS Mormons please answer true or false?
According to their prophets teachings TRUE!
And if anyone says that this isn't taught anymore or blah blah blah, you are saying that a prophet SENT BY GOD, and spoken to through God is a liar , and that God made a mistake.
Gordon B. Hinckley, Mormonism’s 15th President, once noted in a conference message, “Logic and reason would certainly suggest that if we have a Father in Heaven, we have a Mother in Heaven. That doctrine rests well with me” (“Daughters of God,” Ensign (Conference Edition), November 1991, p.100. This is also cited in The Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p.257).
Mormon Apostle Bruce R. McConkie wrote,
“Implicit in the Christian verity that all men are the spirit children of an Eternal Father is the usually unspoken truth that they are also the offspring of an Eternal Mother. An exalted and glorified Man of Holiness (Moses 6:57) could not be a Father unless a Woman of like glory, perfection, and holiness was associated with him as a Mother. The begetting of children makes a man a father and a woman a mother whether we are dealing with man in his mortal or immortal state” (Mormon Doctrine, p. 516).
Just as there is nothing in Mormonism’s unique scripture that mentions God being married to a “heavenly mother,” there is nothing to imply such a teaching in the Bible either.
According to Joseph Smith,
';God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret, if the veil were rent today, and the great God who holds this world in its orbit, and who upholds all worlds and all things by his power, was to make himself visible,—I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form—like yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked and conversed with him, as one man talks and communes with another'; (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345. Also cited in Achieving a Celestial Marriage, p.129).
The Doctrines of Covenants, considered to be scripture by Latter-day Saints, teaches, “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's” (130:22).
Jesus taught that God the Father was not a man at all. In fact, John 4:24 records Jesus saying, “God is spirit, and they that worship Him, must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”LDS Mormons please answer true or false?
Simply put - LDS men and women, marry each other in the ratio of only 1 man to 1 woman and that is the requirement to marry in the temple to enter into heaven in Mormon doctrine.
It is doctrinal belief, that God has a wife - they refer to her as a Heavenly Mother.
It is speculation that God has multiple wives, it is unknown and is not a Mormon doctrine.
There is no doctrine that says that Mormon males have to be married to more than one wife in the temple to be ';exalted'; (or to reach the highest level of celestial glory.)
The order of the church follows what is known, and that is that they believe God has a wife, so man must too have a single wife. 1 man to 1 woman. It follows the law of ';multiplying and being fruitful,'; as detailed in Genesis, and also the covenant of marriage as written 1 Corinthians 11, and Ephesians 5.
All other doctrine regarding polygamy of God, or Mormon practices should be first researched in ancient times through the Jewish faith to understand why Moses, Jacob and other old prophets used to have concubines/wives. It's an ancient practice - but its use is unknown.
True.
Are women created in God's image? In Genesis it says ';let us make man in OUR image';. Perhaps she was the one that women were modeled after and men were modeled after God. This is not LDS doctrine, simply my speculation.
Yes, we believe that we have a heavenly mother. That's all we know. We have no doctrine concerning the number of them (one or more than one).
You've basically got it right. We believe there's a heavenly mother and that she and our heavenly father created our spirits.
True! They believe we are the literal children of God(aka Heavenly Father). That we were conceived as all ';people'; are w/ his wife/wives in yonder heavens. His wife is never spoken of, as I was told it was too sacred and inappropriate.I can't understand that though. We speak freely of God.
True.
While it is not necessarily ';doctrine'; given in scripture, we assume that since we are children of God, that He created us, that Celestial marriage is part of his plan, he must also have a wife. Wives? No clue. But yes, we assume we have a Heavenly Mother.
Neither can completely or properly answer your question.
We do believe that our Father in Heaven has a wife. We do believe that we are spirit children of God. We are not taught how God created all of the spirits that he did. For all we know it was in the same manner that the earth was created.
So yes we believe that Go is married.
No we do not believe that God had sex to conceive all of his spiritual children. We do not worry about that. Knowing how our spirits came into existence will not help us get back to heaven. And anyway our spirits were created by some form of sex between God and his wife then that would be absolutely NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.
The only doctrine that we do have about the creation of our spirits is found in the Book of Abraham in the Pearl of Great Price. from which we learn that a spirit came from something referred to as ';intelligences';. I really do not know much about this particular subject and really I am not too concerned about it. I have so many other things that I need to work on and learn that this one remote part of our beliefs can wait until I mastered some of the more basic and core parts first.
I had learned to call thee Father,
Through thy Spirit from on high;
But until the key of knowledge
Was restored, I knew not why.
In the heavens are parents single?
No; the thought makes reason stare!
Truth is reason, truth eternal
Tells me I've a mother there
True... but they do not like to discuss the issue. It means a lot to them, and having people make fun of things that are very sacred to them is hard.
Mormons are messed up! But get to know the difference between LDS and FLDS.
-Words of a Christian
FALSE
They do not comment on such a thing. When I was a mormon, he had at least one wife, but in order to get to the celestial kingdom, you must have wives, so God has wives, they are not spoken of because people take his name in vain and so they will take her or their names in vain. at leats that was the was the excuse in the 1970's.
They don't discuss God's wife, their own mother.
Possibly because when you start in on it, it raises a lot more questions than it answers.
How did God create Tiger Woods and Obama? Wives of different races, but MULTIPLE races? Skin color is clearly based on the curses and actions taken in the pre existence. It isn't randomly assigned.
Who created God's wives? Is there another God up the line who created our God and his wives? Who else did God#1 create?
The whole Mormon theology of becoming Gods is fraught with questions like this that show it is full of holes and was created by Man, not God.
Mormons suck. And then they die.
