True or False? Can you tell the sex of the baby by heart beat?

I just heard my baby's heart beat today, I'm 11 weeks pregnant and I heard that if the baby's heart beat is at least 140 then it's a girl and if it's under 140, it's a boy. My baby's heart beat was 160. Also, is 160 normal?True or False? Can you tell the sex of the baby by heart beat?
Sorry to tell you but this is an old wives tale, its a myth, not true at all, the only way you can tell the sex is past 16-20wks and if they actually spot something past these weeks, ill tell you a list of myths if you like:





Linea Nigra


The old wives tale is this – if you get a línea nigra and it runs from your pubic area to your belly button only, it’s a girl, and if it goes all the way up from your pubic area to the bottom-most part of you rib cage, then it’s a boy.





Carrying High or Low?


This is a well known old wives tale – so many people will want to look at your belly and think they can guess just from looking! So as the tale goes, if you are carrying low, it’s a boy, or if you’re carrying high it’s a girl.





Dry or Soft?


If your skin is dry, you’re said to be having a boy – and if it’s soft, then a girl is on the way.





Ahhh, Now I Know Why We Learn Maths At School!


Because if you combine your age at the time of conception with the number of the month you conceived and the resulting number is odd – then it’s a girl on the way. If the resulting number is even, then it’s a boy for you.





Cold Feet?


If your feet get colder than they used to pre-pregnancy, it’s a sign you have a boy on the way. If your feet are the same, then it’s a girl!

i dont think it is true at all. because at different stages of pregnancy the heart rate changes alot, it is much higher in the first trimester than it is in the third for example. 160 i sabout the average, and most babies at 11 weeks fall into 150-180 bpm, so the whole ';under 40 bpm'; were be pretty dangerous to tell you the truth
160 is normal. The heart rate thing is a myth, though. My baby's heart rate early on was 129, and I'm having a girl. My cousin is having a boy and her son's heart rate was in the 180s. Congrats on your pregnancy, and good luck with everything!!
My babys heart beat was 150-165 the first 4 months..everyone said it was a girl...ultrasound showed it was a boy. Heartbeat is usally 130-145 now, and has been for the second half of my pregnancy.
that is just an old wives tale. 160 is a great heartbeat. ALL 3 of my children had heartbeats in the 150's-160's....and I had girl, boy, girl...

at 11 weeks my baby's heartbeat was in the 170's. now im 4 months and its in the 140's... and its a boy =)
False! Those things are about 50% accurate...the same as a guess.
