I am a big fan of those liberals who stick up for big government. To all you progressives who don't get it. BIgger the government, bigger the corruption. This is not rocket science.True or False: There is less room for human error and corruption if the government is small as opposed to lar?
TRUE.
Small governments that are limited in both geography and scope are far easier to monitor and hold accountable than a vast overseeing body.
As the size and scope of a government increases, it becomes harder for the public to understand and debate the increasing number of issues on the government plate.
As large government expands to the federal level, much like today's situation, you end up with an enormous number of special interests lobbying for special privilege and favors at the expense of the general public. While one would expect the general public to watch after its own welfare, the reality is that the benefits gained by the special interest come at a cost to the public that is too convoluted and widely dispersed to realistically be monitored or countered.
In other words, why would John the blacksmith spend his hard earned resources to fight the lobbying efforts of the steel industry? Although he might be cognizant enough to realize that the steel industry's efforts to halt imports raise his costs, he probably will also see that who ultimately bears the costs are consumers. These costs are widely dispersed and hard to understand.
On the other side of the situation, it is very easy for the steel industry to grasp the benefits to themselves of stopping imports. The higher prices gained easily covers their expensive lobbying efforts.
So as you would expect, the small concentrated interested party holds much more sway than the general public that ultimately bears the cost.
Thus as governments grow larger, it becomes more difficult to monitor the efforts of special interests for the many different issues and policies, leading to an increase in human error and corruption.True or False: There is less room for human error and corruption if the government is small as opposed to lar?
Could go either way. If it's small, you can get one small group running everything with no accountability, like the old school ';good ole boy network,'; easily corrupted. Larger means more people going behind each other. On the other hand, larger usually means more bureaucracy, and it can be hard to get to the 1 person who actually makes decisions. It really depends on the people hired.
False..Comparing a luxury liner to a rowboat you will find both seaworthy...while one just needs a person with oars..the other has 500 crew. Each accomplishes the goals set forth based on their intent. The problem lies not with the size of the vessel as much as with the skills of the crew...a lazy or injured rower will go in circles and an inept crew will bring harm to even the largest vessel. And since the government is full of elected persons it appears that the voters are the reason that inept and corrupt people man the wheel of any government.
Depends on what the government is trying to do. I would say true for sure on corruption, there's less people to keep track of. But human error would increase if the small government's capability to administer government was stressed.
False. There is less room when government is transparent than when it hides behinf state secrecy acts. Openness and acountability beats size.
It's true, but the united states would not be as strong or competitive against other countries who have big government. There are pros and cons to everything. Lets dismantle the central government and watch how quickly we start speaking chinese.
True, however the effect of each error will be exponential.
Smaller government does not equate to a smaller need for governance.... (even in the squirrely Libertarian world).
Percentage wise, there might be just as much corruption but if the total is larger, than an equal percent would mean a larger amount.
Thats what we need, Less check and balance. Let big corps run unchecked. ';Oh the melt down'; I guess we all know what happens when we deregulate.
Very true.
Also more room for having to listen to those they lead. They are closer to the people.
We need to take the government out of everything. They still our money now they are going back in stilling our kids to go off and die. What happened to ';We The People';?
True. Small is much easier to oversee. Less corruption and error.
False - Small governments have LESS over-site, as the few in charge are most likely to be working on the same ideals.
False. Human error and corruption occurs in both types of government.
True. Small and local government is more accountable to its people.
Absolutely true.
Seems logical.True
I'd say that's true, assuming the last word is ';far.';
True
go team jacob
False. There is as much or more human error and corruption in the private sector as the public.
